Woman among 2 drug peddlers arrested by Samba police

SAMBA, Jan 31: Continuing its crackdown on drug smuggling, Samba Police has arrested two drug peddlers including a woman and recovered approximately 13.20 grams heroin like substance (Chitta) from their possession in the jurisdiction of Police Station Bari Brahmana.
A police team of Police Station Bari Brahmana while performing naka duty near NHW Sarore Adda, signalled to stop an auto-rickshaw bearing registration No. JK02DM-6135 for its checking which was coming from Sarore side. On seeing the naka party, the driver of the vehicle tried to flee away from the spot. But the alert cops successfully intercepted the said auto-rickshaw near JDA Park. During checking, approximately 13.20 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from the possession of two persons including a woman travelling in the said vehicle.
The drug peddlers identified as Parveen Kumar S/o Darshan Lal and Swarana Devi W/o Ashok Kumar both residents of Qasim Nagar Bahu Fort district Jammu have been arrested and the contraband item has been seized. The vehicle involved in the crime has also been seized in the instant case.
A case FIR No 55/2026 U/S 8/21/22/25/29 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Bari Brahmana and investigation started.
