2/13/2026 10:35:56 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 13: Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu & Kashmir Branch Office, actively participated in the Agriculture Summit & Kisan Mela 2026 organized at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu on 11th to 13th February 2026.
More than 700 students along with their escort teachers from around 15 BIS Standard Club schools of Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Udhampur, and Rajouri districts attended the Summit. The students explored exhibitions and live demonstrations on modern agricultural practices, AI-enabled farming, innovative agri-technologies, and food processing technologies.
At the BIS stall, students were sensitized about the significant role of BIS in strengthening the agriculture sector through the formulation and implementation of Indian Standards for agricultural equipment, irrigation systems, fertilizers, pesticides, food products, and packaging materials. These standards ensure quality, safety, efficiency, and reliability, thereby supporting farmers, enhancing productivity, and promoting sustainable agricultural practices across the country.
The BIS stall also witnessed enthusiastic participation from members of the general public, who were made aware of BIS activities, certification schemes, and the importance of standards in daily life as well as in the agriculture sector.
Transportation and refreshments for the participating students along with their escorts were arranged by BIS JKBO. The visit was highly informative and aligned with the objectives of the BIS Standard Clubs Programme.
Notably, the BIS stall was awarded the 2nd Prize in the Government Category for its impactful display and effective dissemination of information during the Summit.
