JAMMU, Mar 3: Under the Leadership of Vice Chancellor SKUAST-J Prof. B.N. Tripathi and direction of Mission Director JKCIP Mr. Sandeep Kumar IFS. Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu organized a one-day FPO-Bank-Insurance Interaction Program at Batote in Ramban district, aimed at strengthening financial linkages for farmers and Farmer Producer Organizations. The programme was held at Batote, bringing together representatives of Farmer Producer Organizations, banking institutions, and insurance companies on a common platform.
The initiative aimed to enhance coordination between FPOs and financial agencies to improve access to credit facilities, crop insurance, and other financial support systems available to farmers.
Experts from SKUAST-J highlighted the importance of financial literacy, risk management, and institutional collaboration for strengthening the agribusiness ecosystem in rural areas. Officials emphasized that better access to banking and insurance services would help FPOs become financially sustainable and resilient. Participants discussed loan procedures, insurance coverage schemes, and government-supported financial assistance programs tailored for the agriculture sector. Farmers and FPO members appreciated the initiative and expressed hope that such interactive programmes would continue in the future to address their financial concerns.
