MIER College organised guest lecture on "Techniques of Counselling and Career Information"

JAMMU, Mar 6: The Alumni Committee of MIER College of Education organised an informative guest lecture on the topic "Techniques of Counselling and Career Information" for the students of B.Ed. Semester IV on March 6, 2026. The lecture was conducted in alignment with the curriculum of the course 'Guidance and Counselling (Course Code: BDE-407) and aimed at enhancing students' understanding of counselling techniques and career guidance.
The session was delivered by Ms. Gagandeep Kour, an esteemed alumna of MIER College of Education and Lecturer in English at Dogra College of Education, Jammu. As a former student of the institution, Ms. Kour shared valuable professional experiences and practical insights related to counselling and career guidance in the field of education.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome and introduction of the resource person by Ms. Arpana Koul, Assistant Professor. During her lecture, Ms. Kour discussed various counselling techniques, emphasised the importance of career information, and highlighted the significant role teachers play in guiding students towards suitable career paths. She also underscored the importance of effective counselling skills in addressing students' academic, personal, and vocational concerns.
The session was followed by an engaging interactive discussion, where students actively participated by asking questions and sharing their views, leading to a meaningful exchange of ideas.
Prof. Adit Gupta, Director and Principal of MIER College of Education, appreciated the resource person for her insightful presentation and valuable contribution and presented her with a certificate of appreciation. Prof. Nishta Rana, Head SOE and Prof. Monika Bajaj, Head SSSH, felicitated the resource person with a planter as a token of gratitude.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Diksha Sharma, Assistant Professor, who expressed gratitude to the resource person and the Alumni Committee for organizing such an enriching academic session.
