Jammu Division ticket-checking staff set benchmark in passenger service

JAMMU, Mar 14: Under the guidance of Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, the Commercial Department of the Indian Railways in the Jammu Division has not only achieved new milestones in revenue generation but has also set a remarkable benchmark in passenger service, integrity and dedication to duty.
In a recent instance highlighting exemplary service, Sandeep Kumar, a member of the ticket-checking staff posted at Pathankot Railway Station, found a bag left behind by a female passenger on Seat No. 1 in Coach C/1 of Train No. 22429 while performing his duties. Acting promptly and responsibly, he carried out the necessary verification formalities in the presence of the Government Railway Police (GRP) at Pathankot City and subsequently returned the bag to the passenger. The bag contained the passenger's mobile phone and important documents. The passenger later expressed deep gratitude to the Railways and the ticket-checking staff for their honesty and prompt action.
In another similar incident, a female passenger travelling from Srinagar to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra in Coach C/6 of Train No. 26404 (Srinagar-Katra) Vande Bharat Express accidentally left her bag inside the coach. She immediately informed Akib Ahmed, a member of the ticket-checking staff stationed on the train and headquartered in Srinagar. Treating the matter with utmost seriousness, the ticket-checking team initiated a search and soon located the bag. After completing the required verification procedures at the Katra Ticket Inspector's office in the presence of other staff members, the bag was safely returned to the passenger. The bag contained her mobile phone, jewellery and cash. The passenger expressed heartfelt appreciation to the railway staff for their prompt assistance and honesty.
Adding to this series of commendable efforts, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal on March 14 honoured Deepak Kumar, a member of the ticket-checking staff in Jammu, with a special Certificate of Appreciation for his honesty, dedication to duty and outstanding contribution towards revenue generation.
Speaking on the occasion, Uchit Singhal said that the ticket-checking staff of the Jammu Division continues to set a unique example of professionalism and commitment. He noted that such acts of integrity and passenger-friendly service significantly enhance the reputation of Indian Railways and strengthen passengers' trust in the railway system.These incidents reflect the strong spirit of service among railway employees and underline the commitment of the Jammu Division to maintaining high standards of transparency, efficiency and passenger care.
