GDC Ramnagar organises symposium and skit on road safety

RAMNAGAR, Mar 18: The Road Safety Club of Government Degree College Ramnagar organised a Symposium and Skit on the theme "Road Safety: A Shared Responsibility" under the able guidance of the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Bhavnaish Chand Anthal.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Ritika Mahajan (Convenor, Road Safety Club), who highlighted the importance of creating awareness about road safety among youth and emphasized their role as responsible citizens in ensuring safer roads.
The symposium witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, reflecting their awareness and concern regarding road safety issues. A total of nine students participated and presented insightful views on responsible driving, adherence to traffic rules, and the importance of collective accountability. The participants were evaluated by a panel of judges comprising Dr. Pankaj Sharma (HOD English), Dr. Sunil Kumar (HOD Dogri), and Dr. Eisha Sharma (HOD Psychology). Arpit Bandral (Sem 6th), Joginder Paul (Sem 2nd), and Rohit Sharma (Sem 2nd) secured the first, second, and third positions respectively.
Following the symposium, a thought-provoking skit was performed by eight students, effectively portraying the consequences of negligent driving and the importance of following traffic norms. The performance was well-received and served as a strong message to the audience.
In his address, the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Bhavnaish Chand Anthal, appreciated the efforts of the Road Safety Club and the participants. He stressed that road safety is not merely an individual concern but a collective responsibility. He urged students to become ambassadors of change by promoting safe driving practices, spreading awareness, and strictly adhering to traffic regulations to prevent accidents and save lives.
The event was successfully organised by the Road Safety Club of the college under the convenorship of Prof. Ritika Mahajan along with the members Dr. Sunil Kumar, Prof. Anice Ahmed, Prof. Sanjay Malhotra, Prof. Tanmeet Kour, and Prof. Pankaj Dabgotra.
The programme concluded with the felicitation of winners and participants, and a formal vote of thanks by Prof. Pankaj Dabgotra (Member, Road Safety Club), who expressed gratitude to the Principal, faculty members, and students for their active participation and support in making the event a success.
