Early Times Report
LEH, Mar 30: Rajasthan Diwas was celebrated at Lok Niwas under the aegis of the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative, envisioned by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. The initiative aims to foster a spirit of unity, brotherhood and mutual understanding among people of different states and Union Territories by promoting awareness about India's diverse art, culture, traditions, and heritage.
Rajasthan, widely known as the "Land of Kings," was formed on March 30, 1949, when major Rajputana princely states-Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, and Jaisalmer-merged into the Dominion of India. This historic occasion is celebrated annually as Rajasthan Day. The process of unification was completed on November 1, 1956, with the integration of Ajmer-Merwara, giving Rajasthan its present form.
Speaking on the occasion, Under Secretary Sumera Shafi extended her heartfelt greetings to all personnel serving in Ladakh on the occasion of Rajasthan Diwas. She highlighted the striking similarities between Ladakh and Rajasthan, particularly in terms of the valour and bravery of their people, as well as their growing popularity as major tourist destinations.
Sharing her personal experiences, she mentioned her visit to Rajasthan and expressed admiration for its vibrant cultural traditions, especially the famous Ghoomar dance and the iconic dish Dal Baati Churma. She appreciated the dedication of personnel from across the country, including Rajasthan, who serve in the challenging terrain of Ladakh, terming it a tough posting. She lauded their commitment to safeguarding the nation despite harsh conditions and saluted their courage and unwavering spirit.
Personnel serving in Ladakh also shared their experiences during the celebration. They spoke about the breathtaking beauty of Ladakh and expressed their satisfaction and pride in serving in the region. Another speaker highlighted the rich history of Rajasthan, recalling the glorious era of Rajputana and the sacrifices made by its brave warriors. Describing Rajasthan as the "land of the brave," he remarked that the forts of the state stand as enduring symbols of the valour and resilience of soldiers who defended their land against invaders.
On the occasion, a message from the Hon'ble Governor of Rajasthan, Shri Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde, was read out, further enriching the celebration.
Officials and staff of Lok Niwas and the Lieutenant Governor's Secretariat, along with personnel from Rajasthan serving in Ladakh, attended the event.
