Kishtwar police arrested drug peddler, cannabis recovered

KISHTWAR, Apr 12: In its ongoing drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse, Kishtwar Police arrested a drug peddler and recovered 70 grams of charas-like narcotic substance.
SSP Kishtwar Sh. Naresh Singh-JKPS, sharing the details, said that a police party from Police Station Kishtwar, led by SHO PS Kishtwar Insp. Firdous Ahmed and assisted by PSI Punyadeep Singh along with their team, was on routine patrolling in the areas of Gurian and Lanyal under the supervision of Dy. SP Hqrs Kishtwar. The police team apprehended one suspect. Upon conducting a personal search, 70 grams of charas-like substance was recovered, and the accused was arrested on the spot. The accused disclosed his identity as Babar Hussain Sheikh S/o Ghulam Nabi Sheikh R/o Gurian.
In this regard, Case FIR No. 78/2026 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Kishtwar, and investigation has been taken up. District Police Kishtwar follows a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and will continue its relentless efforts to eradicate the drug menace and safeguard the youth and society at large.
