People See Through BJP's Lies as Omar Govt Pushes Real Development: Rattan Lal Gupta
4/13/2026 10:33:44 PM
Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Apr 13: Launching a scathing attack on the BJP, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Provincial President Jammu, Rattan Lal Gupta, today said that the massive development push initiated under the leadership of Omar Abdullah has exposed the hollow narrative of the BJP, leaving it politically restless and disconnected from the ground realities of Jammu.
Addressing a well-attended public meeting at Manwal Block in Majalta, Udhampur organized by Ram Parshotam Sharma District President Udhampur Rural and chaired by Shankar Singh (Block President, Majalta), Abdul Gani Malik former minister and Zonal President Udhampur Reasi Zone, Vijay Lochan Chairman SC Cell, Rakesh Singh Raka Vice President Central Zone. Gupta said that the people of Jammu are no longer willing to be misled by slogans and empty assurances.
"BJP's 11-year tenure stands as a testimony to missed opportunities, broken promises, and administrative neglect. Today, the people of Jammu, especially in areas like Manwal, are struggling for basic necessities drinking water, electricity, healthcare, education, and employment. Who is responsible? The answer is clear-the BJP and its misrule," Gupta asserted.
He said that rising unemployment, crumbling healthcare infrastructure, shortage of doctors and teachers, and increasing drug menace are stark reminders of BJP's governance failure. "Jammu was reduced to a footnote in BJP's political agenda. They must answer why this region was systematically ignored and denied its rightful share of development," he added.
Highlighting the contrast, Gupta said that during Omar Abdullah's tenure, Jammu witnessed tangible and inclusive development. "Be it strengthening healthcare institutions, ensuring availability of doctors, upgrading schools, recruiting teachers, or expanding rural infrastructure, our government delivered on the ground. We worked with vision, not propaganda," he said.
He pointed out that the industrial estate sanctioned in 2014 near Manwal for Majalta Block spread over 200 kanals remains incomplete due to BJP's apathy. "While the boundary wall was constructed during our tenure, the project has since been abandoned. We are committed to reviving it so that local youth can benefit through startups under targeted youth development initiatives," he added.
Gupta further emphasized that the Omar Abdullah-led government had initiated multiple welfare-oriented schemes aimed at strengthening public healthcare, improving doctor-patient ratios, enhancing school infrastructure, and ensuring teacher availability across rural belts. "Our governance model was rooted in welfare, equity, and accountability," he said.
Calling for restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, Gupta said, "The continued downgrading of democratic rights has alienated the people. Statehood is not just a political demand,it is essential for restoring dignity, accountability, and effective governance."
In a sharp closing remark, Gupta said, "The BJP sold dreams; we built roads. They gave slogans; we delivered services. The people of Jammu now know the difference and that is precisely what is unsettling the BJP today."
