Historic Baisakhi Mela at Nainsoo inaugurated

UDHAMPUR, Apr 14: The historic and culturally vibrant Baisakhi Mela at Nainsoo was today formally inaugurated by MLA Udhampur East, Ranbir Singh Pathania, amidst great enthusiasm and large public participation. Organized in the flanks of. sacred shrine of the ancient and culturally rich Nainsoo Temple, the mela stands as a reflection of the deep-rooted traditions, spiritual faith, and collective harmony of the region. Every year, this mela emerges as a significant confluence of devotion, culture, and community bonding, attracting people from across surrounding areas.
The event witnessed the presence of several prominent local representatives and officials, including Mela Officer Chetan Sharma (BDO), Puran Chand (DDC), Vikram Singh (Sarpanch), Ajay (Panch), Ravinder (Panch), Rohit Thakur, Ravinder Jamwal, Atul Sharma, along with Mr Mithun Goswami, President of the local mela committee. Their coordinated efforts ensured the smooth and successful organisation of the mela, with all necessary arrangements put in place for the convenience of the people .
The mela premises came alive with a variety of local stalls showcasing indigenous products, traditional cuisine, and handicrafts, providing a platform for local vendors and artisans. Adding to the festive spirit, local cultural troupes mesmerized the audience with vibrant performances, beautifully reflecting the rich cultural heritage and artistic traditions of the region. Their performances were met with great appreciation and applause from the gathered audience.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Ranbir Singh Pathania highlighted the cultural and spiritual significance of Baisakhi, stating that the festival symbolizes unity, resilience, and the strength of shared traditions. He remarked that the historic mela at Nainsoo is not just a celebration but a living testament to the region's rich heritage and collective identity.
Drawing a broader perspective, he also touched upon the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in the present global scenario. Referring to ongoing international tensions, including developments in Iran, he emphasized that in times resembling a war-like atmosphere, the path of dialogue, peace, and balanced diplomacy, as upheld by Bharat, holds the key to sustainable global stability. He noted that India's principled stand continues to inspire confidence and reinforces the importance of peaceful engagement.
He further added that even in challenging times, such cultural gatherings strengthen the social fabric, promote harmony, and remind society of its shared values and traditions. The mela concluded on a high note with overwhelming participation, reaffirming its importance as a major cultural and spiritual event of the region. The administration and local organizing committee were widely appreciated for their dedicated efforts in successfully conducting the mela.
