Ramban police raid house of drug peddler, charas recovered

RAMBAN, Apr 20: In pursuance of drug free Ramban district under the aegis of 100 days Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, Ramban Police, acting on credible and reliable information, carried out a search operation at Bathi, Maitra area of Ramban, leading to the recovery of narcotic substance and apprehension of one drug peddler.
A search party comprising officials from Police Station Ramban, along with an Executive Magistrate and lady police personnel, conducted a lawful search at the residential premises of one Anchal Singh S/o Charan Singh R/o Bathi, Maitra, Ramban.
During the search, approximately 100-110 grams of charas like substance packed in two transparent polypacks was recovered from inside the house, where it had been concealed beneath clothes. In addition, a weighing scale and stones of varying sizes, suspected to be used for weighing the contraband, were also seized from the spot.
During preliminary questioning, the accused disclosed involvement in illegal trade of narcotic substances.
In this regard, FIR No. 89/2026 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Ramban, and investigation has been taken up.
The accused has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway to unearth backward and forward linkages.
