JAMMU, June 17: The Jammu & Kashmir Rifle Association (JKRA) paid heartfelt tributes to legendary shooter, coach and Padma Shri awardee Jaspal Rana during a condolence meeting held at the Mission Olympic Shooting Range, Jammu. The meeting was held under the guidance of Sh. S. S. Sodhi Ji, Governing Body Member, National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), Chairman, Souvenir & Badges Committee, NRAI, and President, JKRA.
Remembering his extraordinary contribution to Indian shooting, the members described Jaspal Rana as an iconic sportsperson, an exceptional coach and mentor, and a source of inspiration for generations of shooters across the country. The gathering was attended by JKRA Chairman Sh. S. Kuldeep Singh Jamwal, Chairman Technical Committee- Rajesh Virdhy, Treasurer Sh. Arun Mansotra, coaches Vishal Mehra, Aman Singh and Shamsher Singh, all district units and clubs along with a large number of young shooters and sports enthusiasts. The speakers recalled his remarkable achievements, unwavering dedication to the sport, and invaluable role in nurturing young talent, while offering their heartfelt condolences and praying for eternal peace to the departed soul.
Paying rich tributes to the legendary shooter, Sh. S.S. Sodhi Ji, described Jaspal Rana as one of the greatest icons of Indian shooting whose remarkable achievements brought glory to the nation. He said that Rana's dedication, discipline, humility and relentless pursuit of excellence made him a role model for generations of shooters. Recalling his immense contribution as both a champion shooter and an inspiring coach, Sh. Sodhi noted that Jaspal Rana played a vital role in nurturing young talent and strengthening the sport of shooting in India. He added that Rana's life and accomplishments would continue to inspire aspiring sportspersons for years to come. Expressing deep sorrow over his demise, Sh. Sodhi said that Indian sports had lost a towering personality whose legacy would forever remain etched in the hearts of athletes and admirers alike.
Addressing the gathering, Sh. S. Kuldeep Singh Jamwal described Jaspal Rana as an icon of Indian shooting whose achievements elevated the country's stature on the global sporting stage. He said that Rana's commitment to excellence and his passion for mentoring young talent would remain a guiding force for future generations.
Arun Mansotra also paid rich tributes, recalling Jaspal Rana's remarkable contribution to the sport and his unwavering dedication towards nurturing young shooters. Coaches Vishal Mehra, Aman Singh, and Shamsher Singh shared their memories and spoke about the inspiration that countless shooters derived from Rana's illustrious career and exemplary character.
Expressing profound grief over his untimely demise, the members observed a two-minute silence and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul. They noted that while the shooting fraternity has lost a legendary figure, his legacy, values, and contributions to Indian sports will continue to inspire generations to come.
