Government Degree College Bani celebrates International Yoga Day

BANI, June 20: Government Degree College Bani, in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS), celebrated International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm and active participation from students and staff members. The yoga session was organized to promote physical fitness, mental well-being, and a healthy lifestyle among the college community. The programme was conducted under the able guidance of the worthy Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Neena Gupta.
The programme was organized under the supervision of Dr. J. S. Soodan, Physical Director, who conducted various yoga asanas and guided the participants through different breathing and stretching exercises. Faculty members, non-teaching staff, and students actively participated in the session and performed a variety of yoga poses aimed at enhancing flexibility, concentration, and overall health.
On the occasion, the Principal of the college addressed the gathering and highlighted the significance of yoga in maintaining physical, mental, emotional, and neurological well-being. She emphasized that yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition and encouraged students to incorporate yoga into their daily routine to lead a balanced and healthy life. She elaborated that regular practice of yoga enhances flexibility, strength, posture, and respiratory health while also helping to reduce stress, anxiety, and fatigue. She further highlighted the neurological benefits of yoga, stating that it improves concentration, memory, emotional stability, and cognitive functioning by calming the nervous system and promoting mental clarity. Yoga also contributes to better sleep quality, increased self-awareness, and overall psychological well-being, making it an essential practice for leading a productive and fulfilling life.
Dr. Nisha Devi, NSS Programme Officer, was also present during the event and appreciated the enthusiastic participation of students and staff. She stressed the importance of adopting healthy habits and promoting wellness through regular yoga practice.
The event concluded with a pledge by all participants to embrace yoga as a way of life and contribute towards building a healthier and more harmonious society. The programme witnessed overwhelming participation and successfully conveyed the message of health, fitness, and holistic well-being associated with yoga.
