Grand Yoga programme organized ahead of International Day of Yoga

JAMMU, June 20: Vishwa Yoga Institute (WYI), Jammu organized a special yoga programme at Hari Ki Pauri, Bagh-e-Bahu, Jammu, as part of the celebrations leading up to the International Day of Yoga 2026. The programme was inaugurated by Member of Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma, who hoisted the Yoga Flag and participated in the Common Yoga Protocol along with hundreds of yoga enthusiasts.
Addressing the gathering, Jugal Kishore Sharma appreciated the efforts of Yog Guru Acharya Dr. Karan, stating that he is playing a significant role in promoting yoga across Jammu & Kashmir and inspiring youth to stay away from drugs and adopt a healthy lifestyle. He further remarked that Dr. Karan has dedicated his life to the promotion of yoga and social welfare, making a valuable contribution to society.
Welcoming the MP, Yog Guru Acharya Dr. Karan, Chairman of Vishwa Yoga Institute, emphasized the importance of introducing yoga at every level of society, especially among children and youth. He appealed to the Government of India and the Government of Jammu & Kashmir to further strengthen yoga-based initiatives for students and young people.
Dr. Karan also announced that a Mega International Day of Yoga Event will be organized on 21 June 2026 at Hari Ki Pauri, Bagh-e-Bahu, Jammu. The venue will open at 5:00 AM, participants will assemble from 5:30 AM, and the Common Yoga Protocol, as prescribed by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, will commence at 6:00 AM.
The grand event will witness participation from the AYUSH Department, J&K Sports Council, Education Department, social organizations, students, youth, and yoga practitioners from across the region.
Acharya Rajendra was also present on the occasion. The Hon'ble MP was formally welcomed by Sham Lal Basan, Ex-Corporator, Bagh-e-Bahu, along with his team. In his address, Shri Basan highlighted the importance of yoga in building a healthy, disciplined, and progressive society.
Among those present were Chaudhary Balkar Singh, Vanshi Lal Gupta, Sham Kalsi, Sunny, Rajneesh, Mukesh, and other members of the Vishwa Yoga Institute team, who actively participated in making the programme successful.
The primary mission of Vishwa Yoga Institute (WYI) is to spread the message of "Do Yoga, Stay Healthy", encourage a drug-free lifestyle among youth, and build a healthier and stronger society through the practice of yoga. The Institute has appealed to all citizens, students, social organizations, and media representatives to participate in large numbers in the International Day of Yoga 2026 Mega Event and contribute to making this wellness movement a grand success.
