GDC Kakryal celebrates International Yoga Day

Katra, June 21: Government Degree College Kakryal Katra celebrated the International Day of Yoga with great enthusiasm and active participation on June 20 and 21, 2026. The two-day programme was organized in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS), NCORD Cell, Red Ribbon Club and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the college. The event was organised under the able guidance of worthy principal of the college, Dr Rajni Bhagat.
The celebration commenced on June 20 with an awareness lecture by Dr. Usha Sharma NSS PO, highlighting the significance of yoga in promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, and a healthy lifestyle. Faculty members and student volunteers emphasized the role of yoga in reducing stress, improving concentration, and fostering holistic development among youth. On June 21, a practical yoga session was organized in the college campus. Students, faculty members, NSS volunteers, NCORD Cell members, Red Ribbon Club volunteers, and non-teaching staff participated wholeheartedly in the event. Various yoga asanas, breathing exercises, and meditation techniques were demonstrated and practiced. Addressing the participants, the Principal of the college underscored the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life for achieving physical, mental, and emotional balance. The Principal appreciated the collaborative efforts of NSS, NCORD, Red Ribbon Club, and IQAC in successfully organizing the programme and motivating students to adopt healthy habits. The event aimed to spread awareness about the benefits of yoga and encourage young people to embrace a disciplined and healthy lifestyle. Participants expressed their commitment to practicing yoga regularly and promoting its benefits within their communities. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by to all organizers, faculty members, volunteers, and participants for making the International Yoga Day celebration a grand success.

The faculty members who were present during the event included Dr Sajad, Prof. Shikha Bhasin, Dr Manisha, Dr Harmeet Kour, Prof. Nasar and Prof Younus. The non-teaching staff members who were present included Mr. Ashmeet and Mr.Surinder Singh.
