Early Times Report
RS PURA, Aug 19: A Mental Health Awareness and Wellness Programme was organized today at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, R.S. Pura, under the community outreach initiatives of NHPC and Sri Sri Rural Development Programme Trust (SSRDP) in association with NITS Polytechnic.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome by a senior teacher of the school. Speaking on the occasion, Anirudh Gupta, Principal, NITS Polytechnic, sensitized the students about the growing importance of mental health, particularly among young people. He highlighted issues such as stress, anxiety, and emotional pressures, and emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, building positive relationships, seeking timely guidance, and reaching out for help whenever required.
Tejasvi, an experienced IT Engineer and HR professional based in Sweden and associated with the Art of Living as a Happiness and Yoga Teacher, conducted an engaging and interactive session on mental well-being. She explained the connection between thoughts, emotions, stress, and physical health, and demonstrated simple breathing exercises, laughter techniques, meditation, and mindfulness practices that can be easily incorporated into daily life to calm the mind, improve concentration, and enhance emotional balance.
The students and school staff participated enthusiastically in the practical exercises and thoroughly enjoyed the interactive session, making the programme both informative and experiential.
Bhawna Abrol, Principal of the school, appreciated the initiative and thanked the resource persons, Anirudh Gupta and Tejasvi, as well as the organizers for conducting the programme. She expressed her desire to have more such awareness and wellness programmes organized for the students in the future.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and an expression of gratitude to NHPC, SSRDP, and NITS Polytechnic for their continued efforts towards community awareness initiatives and the promotion of mental well-being among young people.
