JAMMU, Apr 7: 1,500 constables of armed police were Wednesday promoted to the rank of selection grade cops. The orders to this effect were issued by a departmental promotion committee (DPC) headed by IGP (Armed) Dilbagh Singh. Other DPC members included IGP's SO, T Punchok, SO to IGP Armed

Singh, commandant JKAP 7th Bn, V K Bali, commandant JKAP 3rd Bn, S L Koul, commandant IRP 3rd Bn, G R Dar, commandant IRP 12th Bn, Ranjeet Kanwar, commandant 19th Bn, and Abhay Mahajan, commandant JKAP 8th Bn.
In the four DPCs conducted earlier, 115 ASIs were promoted to the rank of SIs, 31 HCs to the rank of ASIs and 313 selection grade Constables to the rank of head constables.
