Wood Craft Training Programme concludes | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT RAJOURI, Apr 21: The skill up-gradation Wood Craft Training Programme being conducted by the Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) in collaboration with the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India concluded here today. During the valedictory function, Vice Chancellor BGSBU Masud A Choudhary distributed cheques and certificates to four batches of trainees of the skill up-gradation training programme. The training programme aimed at skill up-gradation in wood craft and development of entrepreneurship skill among the artisan community involved in Chickri Wood craft, a dying craft of the region. Under the programme, two batches of nine months duration and six batches of two months duration were trained during the last one year. Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor appreciated the efforts of the project team in organizing training programme for empowering the unemployed youth of the artisan community. He further emphasized on the need for helping the trainees in establishing small scale units for promotion of wood craft that is export oriented in terms of its quality and utility. Dr Ashfaq Ahmed Zarri, Deputy Registrar and Project Coordinator gave a power point presentation about the achievements of the Training programme at the outset. In their address Dean Academic Affairs Prof AK Koul and Registrar Rashid Chowdhary congratulated the successful completion of the targets of the training programme. Prof RN Gohil Director Centre for Biodiversity Studies presented the Vote of thanks at the end. The function was attended by Dean Academic Affairs, Registrar, Dean School of Management, Heads of various Departments, officers, trainees and students.
