LeT terrorist killed in Poonch | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 1: A top Pakistani militant of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit was this evening killed by police and 16 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) in a gunbattle in Khera Top forests of Surankote in Poonch. Acting on a tip-off about the presence of two LeT militants in a dhok in Khera Top woods, jawans of police and 16 RR launched an operation in the area in the evening. Police sources said when jawans were laying cordon around a dhok at about 6.45 pm, the two militants, who were hiding inside, opened fire, which was returned. In the ensuing exchange of fire, jawans shot dead one militant while the other managed to be escape in an injured condition, the sources added. The slain militant was identified as Abu Umar alias Nazakat Ali of Pakistan. One AK rifle, its two magazines, one radio set, two cellphone SIMs, one matrix sheet and a bag were recovered from him. Sources said reinforcements had been rushed to Khera Top and a massive operation was on to hunt down the escaped militant.Details were awaited.
