Haryana wrestler wins Bani Kesari dangal

JAMMU, June 21: Haryana wrestler Rohit (Laddu) won the 106th Annual Bani Kesari Dangal after he defeated Somveer of Rohtak, again in Haryana, rather easily in the main bout played at Devi Bani Mandir Manwal in district Udhampur. Organized by Manwal Dangal Committee, this day-long event held under the aegis of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association.
Wrestler Rohit (Laddu) received a handsome cash prize of Rs 16,000 in addition to traditional ‘Silver Gurj (Gadda) and Patta’ while runners up, Somveer got Rs 7,000 as prize money.
In all, 58 bouts played in this dangal. The second main bout was won by wrestler, Gurvinder Singh of Garh Shanker in Punjab beating Benia Bean of J&K Police. Third main bout fought between Mantree of Guru Hanuman Akhara Delhi and Manna of Patiala in Punjab ended in a draw after 37 minutes marathon fight. Both these wrestlers were shared a cash prize of Rs 3,000 each. The fourth bout was won by Onkar Singh of BSF beating Sonu of Patiala to receive a cash award of Rs 2500.
President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma was the chief guest while Director of Co- operative Bank, Nand Kishore, SHO Majalata Arvind Kotwal, president Majdoor Kisan Manch Majalta, Kuldeep Singh and Grid Station Manager, Gouri Singh were guests of honour
Members of organizing Committee and those technical officials who helped in smooth conduct of dangal were Yash Paul Singh, Sagar Singh, Hem Raj Gupta, Krishan Lal Gupta, Karnail Singh, Makhan Lal, Sanju Sharma, Bushan Dass Lamberdar, Vijay Singh (Biju),Om Parkash Verma, Lakshman Singh, and Rajinder Singh
Others Result: Anil Kumar (Mohnu) of J&K Police bt Sonuu of Ludhiana, Pappu of Ramnagar bt Pardeep of Harayana, Romesh of Banras bt Sukha of Garh Shanker, Anuj of Delhi bt Gulshan Singh of J&K Police of Kalakot, Inderjeet of Garh Shanker bt Hari Om of Meerut, Kuldeep Singh of Ramnagar bt Pawan of Haryana, Vijay of Jammu bt Alamdin, Thirthu of Manwal bt Vijay of Haryana, Pritam Singh of Reasi bt Ajay of Haryana , Billu of Haryana bt Makhan of Kathua, Ashok of Delhi bt Sanjeev of Haryana, Ravinder of Rohtak bt Rashid of Ramnagar, Shoket of Meerut bt Billu of Jindrah, Gopal of Jindrah bt Ram Singh of Kalakot.
