IGP Armed declares open shooting camp

JAMMU, Aug 21: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Armed, Dilbag Singh today declared open the much awaited 21-day coaching camp at Gulshan Ground here for the upcoming shooters, who have been selected for the forthcoming 14th Kumar Surendra All India Inter-school Shooting Championship to be held at Faridabad.
As many as 45 shooters drawn from various city schools and those from district Kathua and Udhampur are taking part in this camp which is being organised by Jammu and Kashmir Police in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Rifle Association (JKRA).
Speaking to the budding shooters of the state, special guest, Dilbag Singh exhorted upon the boys and girls attending the camp to work hard for the competition ahead and make their presence felt at the national event ahead.
He disclosed that a similar camp is being planned for the school children under the experts’ supervision at Zewan in Kashmir.
Dilbag Singh, who is also working president of the Association, informed the campers that the performance in this camp will become basis for the selection in the forthcoming event.
He also told the gathering that Sports Minister would be approached and urged to expedite the construction work at proposed shooting range at Nagrota.
Prominent among those present were DIG Armed, Danish Rana, Kuldeep Singh Jamwal , Sudhir Kumar, Sanam Soni, Dr Uttam Singh, VS Jamwal, Dharamveer Singh, Pankaj Sharma as also Commandants of different battalions of Armed Police, Ashkoor Wani, Amjad Mirza, SL Koul, Kanwar Ranjit Singh and Rajan Sharma.
During the camp, police trainers, Rajesh Virdhy and Subash Chander will coach the young shooters during the camp.
