Early Times Report
Rajouri, Aug 29: As Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and other terror groups in Pakistan have come under the scanner of US, Islamabad has launched a new terror outfit -- Jammu Kashmir Mujahideen (JKM) -- to keep the pot boiling in the trouble-torn state.
This sensational disclosure was made by JKM's Liaqat Hussain, who Saturday crossed over to this side of the Line of Control (LoC) from Guntrian in Poonch along with his wife and three children and surrendered before security forces.
Liaqat, originally a Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant, had joined JKM after its formation sometime back, police sources said.He told his interrogators that all the terror camps in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) were operational and hundreds of youth were being trained there in the handling of weapons.
He said though the number of trainees had decreased, the camp commanders had been asking the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) to send maximum youth to the camps.
Liaqat, who was today produced before Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Poonch, said the LoC fencing was the main reason behind the decreasing number of militants in the camps.
He said the JKM had majority of the trainees from J&K, who were being trained in the handling of sophisticated weapons. "The JKM has been specially formed to fight troops in J&K," he said.
Liaqat, who himself received training at the Mang Bagni terror camp in PoK, said there were at least 12 more Poonch youth in the camp.He was still in contact of HM militants and had been working for them at their launching pads in PoK, the sources added.
He said most of the trainees were fed up and wanted to return homes. The camp commanders were also exerting pressure on the militants active on this side of the LoC to recruit more and more locals in militant ranks and send them to PoK for training, he informed.
He said the training camps were located at secluded places in PoK. His sustained interrogation was on. Police hope to get more clues to the activities of militants in PoK and about their future plans from him.
