Police raid Muthoot office, recover stolen gold | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Sept 10: Police today raided the Bahu Plaza office of Muthoot finance company and recovered from there gold jewellery which a burglar had stolen from a house in Rajouri and pledged it with the company to avail loan. Muthoot provides loan at cheaper rate of interest against the pledge of gold ornaments. SSP, Rajouri, J S Jalla said Irfan Abid, son of Abid Rafiqi of Bhatindi, allegedly stole 12 tolas of gold ornaments from the house of retired captain Sardar Khan in Rajouri few days back. A case in this connection was registered with the Rajouri police station. The SSP said after his arrest, Abid told police that he had availed a loan of Rs 59,000 from the Muthoot finance company against the pledge of the stolen gold. Acting on this information, a Rajouri police party led by Inspector Zabeen Akhtar today raided the company's Bahu Plaza office here and recovered five tolas of the stolen gold. Some files and other documents of the company were also seized. A Muthoot employee was also taken into custody for questioning. A case stands registered against the accused at Rajouri police station under sections 420, 380 and 120 B. The scrutiny of the seized record confirmed that Abid had taken a loan of Rs 59,000 from the company, police sources said.
