Pt Deen Dayal Upadhayay's 95th birth anniversary observed as "Antodaya Divas"

Jammu, Sept 25: Bhartiya Janata Party today celebrated the 95th birthday of Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhayaya as "Antodaya Divas" by organising programmes in 45 places at blocks level in entire Jammu province.
The BJP leaders, while speaking on the life of Upadhayaya ji, said that the great patriotic Indian was an institution in himself, who devoted whole of his life towards the welfare of the masses and the nation. They said although he lost his parents during his early childhood, but he continued his studies as a shining student.
He obtained gold medals both at the matriculation Board exam in 1935 and intermediate Board exam in 1937.
Later he did his B.A. and B.T. from Kanpur University. He even qualified the Civil Service Exam, but he didn't join civil services as he was fascinated by the idea of making for and working with the common people.
Deen Dayal Upadhyaya was gifted with a multi - faceted personality. He was an extraordinary organizer, social thinker and philosopher. He joined Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh as a Pracharak and entered politics in 1951. With the dint of his hard work, he was appointed as the All India General Secretary of Bharatiya Janasangh. Soon he was counted among the national leaders. In 1967 he was elected president of the same party and led the party to number two position at the national level in General Election (1967). But his life was cut short by the unknown hands on 11th February, 1968 at Mugal Sarai Railway yard where was found dead. The BJP leaders said that Pt. Upadhyaya is well known for his concept of Antodya.
He favoured welfare and upliftment of the poor in the society. According to him, "working towards the betterment of the poor was a noble job and every individual in his own capacity should be part of such a noble cause".
Deeply impressed by the ideology and commitment towards the responsibilities by Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhayaya, Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookerjee went to the extent of saying: "Had I been having two Upadhayayas, I could transform the political face of India."
The BJP leaders said that the anti-poor policies of the UPA has resulted into increase in the number of BPL people from 31 to 41 crores during the last five years, which speaks how much concerned the Congress has been for the upliftment of the poor people across the country.
BJP Legislature Party leader Chaman Lal Gupta chaired the programme in dalit basti of Pucca Talab and former state president Ashok Khajuria alongwith Yudhvir Sethi and Rajesh Gupta was the chief guest at Prem Nagar in Jammu East constituency.
Similar programmes were organized at Nagrota, Marh, Raipur-Domana, R.S.Pura, Suchetgarh, Bani and Madeen, under the leadership of party MLAs Jugal Kishore, Ch. Sukhnandan, Bharat Bhushan, Prof. Gharu Ram Bhagat, Shyam Choudhary, Master Lal Chand and Durga Dass respectively.
At Kathua Chaggar Singh and Sain Dass chaired the programme. At Hiranagar Durga Dass and Rajiv Jasrotia chaired the programme. Som Raj Khajuria and Dina Nath Bhagat chaired at Gordi and Vijay Kumar Sharma at Chenani. At Ramnagar, Mohan Lal was the chief guest while at Majalta Bishan Dass Sharma led it.
At Kalakote it was held under the leadership of Ashok Gupta and at Sunderbani under Ramesh Lal.
Such programme was led by Raj Kumar Sharma at Nowshera and at Tiryarth it was held under the leadership of Bodh Raj Sharma.
At Rajouri, Vibodh Gupta, Kuldeep Raj Gupta and Yogesh Sharma presided over the programme.
Under the leadership of Th. Ranjit Singh, it was held at Samba.
At Vijaypur it was held under the ledership of Chander Prakash Ganga and at Gandhi Nagar Suresh Jamwal and Jaideep Sharma led it.
Sunil Sharma, Sindoor Singh and Ramesh Sharma led such programmes at Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban respectively.
