Transporters not to support Jammu Bandh

JAMMU, Sept 29: All Jammu and Kashmir Transport Welfare Association (AJKTWA) has decided not to support Jammu Bandh call given by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Chairman, Mini Bus Workers Jammu Anil Chopra, and Vijay Sharma general secretary, AJKTWA today said that since they were not taken into confidence by BJP and its allies before giving call for Jammu Bandh, they have decided not to support the strike call. They added that if the workers and activists of BJP would target their vehicles, they would appeal district administration to register criminal cases against the culprits.
They said that centre has so far announced no package for the transporters while adding that centre will consider their demand soon and will sanction package in their favour. Meanwhile, All Jammu and Kashmir Transport Welfare Association (AJKTWA) has hailed Jammu police for solving blind murder of Taxi Driver Gurpreet Singh who was killed by unidentified persons near Nagrota.
Addressing media persons here today, Chairman of Mini Bus Workers Union Jammu Anil Chopra, and General Secretary, AJKTWA Vijay Sharma hailed collective efforts of members of SIT constituted by IGP Jammu Ashok Gupta to nab accused in the blind murder case. They said that SIT under the supervision of DIG Farooq Khan made great efforts and left no stone unturned in tracing out these criminals viz. Kulvinder Singh alias Kinda and Parget Singh along with the above mentioned taxi.
He said that they were recovered from Amritsar within a short span of time. They however appealed Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jammu to fulfill promise of providing government job to the younger brother of deceased along with an ex-gratia relief at the earliest. Leaders of the association appealed the state government to take measures for addressing the situation.
Those who were present in the press conference included Darshan Mehra, Kuldeep Singh, Vijay Singh Chib, Ranjit Singh, Davinder Singh and others.
