Interactive meet with veteran Dogri litterateur Ved Rahi held

Jammu, Oct 2: To acquire the precious inputs from the veteran writer and well known film personality Ved Rahi, Dogri Santha on Saturday organized a programme to meet and to interact with him at K.L. Sehgal Hall, J&k Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.
“ Dogri literature has achieved a high level of maturity and earned a respectability among litterateurs of other Indian languages,” Expressed Ved Rahi during the programme.
Ved Rahi read a couple of his new short stories in addition to reciting some of his poems. His reading session was followed by an interactive session on modern Dogri literature. The short stories read by the accomplished writer were metaphoric and had a freshness to them , both in content as well as in style.
Various aspects of modern Dogri literature were discussed in a free and frank discussion in which all prominent writers belonging to Dogri and other languages participated. Ved Rahi also expressed his concerns about the manners in which the wall-paintings of Jammu are vanishing and are getting spoiled due to the neglect of authority and public.
Earlier welcoming the gathering, Prof. Lalit Magotra , the president of Dogri Sanstha stressed that there is an urgent need to translate Dogri literature in other languages so that the quality Dogri literature could reach the wider spectrum of the readers and could be appreciated at national and international level. He urged upon those Dogri knowing scholars , who have expertise in other languages to undertake this work for the promotion of Dogri language and literature.
Prof. Veena Gupta, general secretary of Dogri Sanstha presented the vote of thanks at the conclusion of the programme.
Those who were present in the programme and who participated in the interaction include, Prof. N.D Sharma, Dr. Agni Shekhar, Pritpal Singh Betab, Pradyumna Singh Jindrahia, Dr. Arvinder Amn, Maharaj Krishna Santoshi, Chhatra Pal, Gianeshwar, Dr. Manoj, Chaman Arora, Madan Padha, Surinder Manhas, Virendra Kesar and many other prominent citizens of Jammu.
