IMFA bags first prize in Clay Modeling Competition

An Inter-Collegiate/Departmental Clay-Modeling Competition was conducted by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu under the on going “Display Your Talent” 2010-11.
Chemat Dorjey from the Institute of Music & Fine Arts, Jammu, bagged the First Prize whereas Bharti Devi from the Department of Zoology, University of Jammu and Mehak Bakshi from the Govt. Women College, Parade, Jammu, clinched the second and third prize, respectively.
The Certificates of Merit were awarded to Trishla from the Govt. Women College, Gandhi Nagar and Varun Kumar from the Institute of Music and Fine Arts.
The topics for the Clay-Modelling were “Festival”, “Mother & Child”, “Labourer”, and “Wrestling”.
Noted Artists Ganesh Sharma, Chander Prakash and Jagpal Bandral, were the adjudicators for the said competition Dr. Lalit Sen, Teacher Incharge, apprised the participants about the Rules and Regulations of the event and supervised the competition. Prof. Kadambri Gupta, Head, Department of Zoology, was the Chief Guest on this Occasion.
In her address, she exhorted the younger generation to participate in the extra curricular activities, enthusiastically. Prof. Kadambri further said that two art pieces cannot be compared as every flower has its own fragrance and characteristics. So it is the participation that matters not the prizes.
Among Others, Prof. N. K. Tripathi, Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Jasbir Singh, Co-Chairman, Campus Cultural Committee, Dr. Munir Alam, Assistant Dean (SW), Dr. Sanjay Sharma, Vinay Thusoo, Public Relations Officer, Teacher Incharges from the various Affiliated Colleges, Shafali Gupta and Vikas Sharma, Joint Secretaries, Students Cultural Council, Sarang Vaid, Madhavi Sharma were also present.
In view of the Mahanavami and Dussehra Festivals, the next events i.e Cartooning and Sketching shall be held on Monday, the 18th of October, 2010 at 10.30 a.m and 2.00 p.m respectively.
