Presentation Convent Celebrates Annual day | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 23: Presentation Convent Senior Secondary School, Gandhi Nagar today celebrated its annual day 'PCS Green Fest'with the traditional fervour and gaiety incorporating the theme of biodiversity upon the planet earth highlighting simultaneously the human apathy, negligence and contempt towards the environmental issues leading to slow paced and imperceptible yet the ultimate eatastrophe. Vice chancellor Jammu University Varun Sahni was the chief guest on the occasion. The other esteemed invitees were Rt. Reverend Bishop Peter Celestine of the J&K Dioscese, Divisional Commissioner of Jammu Pawan Kotwal and Inspector General of Police Dilbag Singh. Sr. Rosamma, The Principal of the school ushered in the guests through her welcome speech in which the pointed out that a great change in our stewardship of the earth and the life on it is required if vast misery is to be avoided and a global home on this planet is not to be irretrievably mutilated. Environment together with technology and sustainable living needs to be the base of schooling. Our children are the biggest stake holders of the drastic consequences of our irresponsible actions today. She exhorted the audience to take a pledge together to walk the earth with gentleness and contribute their mite to build up a sustainable future. The ceremonial lighting of the lamp set afoot a vibrant and spectacular show upon the school grounds witnessed by the parents of the participating students, the social and educational luminaries and the illumini of the institution. The students put up spell binding dance drama woven around the theme of environmental degradation and the need to rectify the damage to our biodiversity. The tragic eventuality of finding water extinet and available only as an exotic and costly drink fifty years heneceforth was the most poignant enactment of the day. Amid uproarious applause, certificates and cash prizes were given away by the chief guest to the illustrious students of class X and XII. CBSE. Examinations who stood out as a top rankers in various streams. The chief guest in his address appreciated the performance of the students and acknowledged the special efforts put in by them to spread a powerful message to conserve, protect and preserve our Mother Earth. The annual day was conceived directed and choreographed by the doyens of the music and culture department Neelu Virender, Satish, Subhash Dogra and Victor in collaboration with the staff and students of PCSSS Jammu.
