Dance items, prayers organized to celebrate Diwali

JAMMU, Nov 3: To celebrate Diwali, a function was organised in the premises of Gandhi Memorial College Of Education, Raipur Bantalab today.
The celebrations included prayers in Sanctum Sanatorium of college, decoration and prajwalan.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof.Kusam Tiku, Principal GMCEJ, stressed the students to enlighten their minds with the light of knowledge.
Later, sweets and refreshments were distributed among the students .
Meanwhile, the students of Project PAHL-an initiative of the Damodhar Satri Udyog Sanstha took a pledge to ‘say no to crackers’ on Diwali.
The street children, enrolled in the PAHL project, took the pledge in the presence of their teachers and guides, for saving the environment from further deterioration.
On the occasion, they promised that they would make all their efforts to spread awareness among others about the harmful effects of the poisonous gases which cause many diseases.
Students conveyed the message of 'Safe diwali', 'Happy Diwali' and 'Say no to crackers' to other children while advising them not to waste money of parents by bursting crackers.
The children also appealed to all the people to join hands with them in their sincere efforts by helping them to make their mission successful.
Chairman of the Damodhar Satri Udyog Sanstha, Onkarnath Chandra asked the children to celebrate this festival of lights without exploding crackers in a traditional fashion.
Addressing the students, secretary of the sanstha Sunita Chandra stressed the need for pollution -free Diwali .
On the occasion, the children participated in the poster making contest and later worshipped Goddess Laxmi and Lord Ganesha. The members of the PAHL team later distributed sweets. Teachers Arti Jathwar ,Sukanya Chib and counsellor Jasmeet Singh helped children during poster making contest.
Delhi Public School, Jammu celebrated the festival of lights with prayers followed by dance items. A special assembly was also organized.
An intersection dance competition of Class IV was also organized on the occasion. The theme was "Folk Dances of India", as India is blessed with the wide regional variations in its culture, art, literature and various forms of dances having uniqueness of their own. Children performed Rajasthani, Dogri, Punjabi, Goan, Kashmiri and Himachali dances with perfect synchronization and rhythm. The beats of the music, the colorful attire and the dancing style captured everyone's heart and left the audience spellbound. Ravi Sharma and Upma Sharma judged the performances. S.S.Sodhi, Director DPS, Jammu, Principal S. Sonar and Headmistress Rohini Aima graced the occasion.
The prizes were distributed by S.S. Sodhi, Director DPS Jammu to the winners. He also wished a very happy and safe Diwali to every body. Dance Masters Ritu Dogra &. Sanjeet Mehra choreographed the dances.
JK Montesorie Senior Secondary School celebrated Diwali with pomp and show in school premises today. The function began with tradition Laxmi Pujan followed by various activities organised by the students. These activities include fancy dress and dance competition among Playway group.
Rangoli making competition was held among 8th, 9th, and 10th and also card making competition among lower classes.
Vice chairman of the school Prof. Satish Anand was the chief guest. Sanjeev Gupta, Managing Director, Rajni Gupta director of the school, Prof. ML Vaid principal, Geeta Dixit- vice principal and all other staff members were also present.
The students of all the classes took part in various activities with proper enthusiasm. Sweets were also distributed among the students & the staff.
Students of Tiny Tots Higher Secondary School and members of Jammu Peoples front jointly celebrated Diwali at SOS Home Channi Rama.
Students of Tiny Tots School made special greeting cards and they made their own gifts for the students of SOS Home. Round about 65 students along with three teachers were there and they cracked some crackers to celebrate Diwali.
Members of Jammu People front distributed crackers and sweets among the students and they greeted them. President Jammu Peoples front Deepak Handa greeted students and the staff of SOS Home and he prayed for their better life and future. He further thanked students of the school and SOS home for their gesture towards each other. He also thanked Joint Secretary Jammu people front Sanjay Kohli for his efforts.
: A colourful function was organized by the management, staff and children of the Shree Sai Gurukul- the Play Way School, Lakhdatta Bazar, here today to celebrate the festival of lights – Diwali.
The tiny tots of the school presented a cultural programme on the occasion which enthralled the audience comprising of parents and other invited guests.
Speaking on the occasion, chairperson of the school, Anu Bala Gupta said that with opening of the school in the heart of the city, the dream of her late father in law, an eminent educationist and academician of his time Late Chander Prakash Gupta has been fulfilled.
Principal of the school and faculty members Pawan Kumari and Naju Goel also addressed the students and the guests.
Later sweets were distributed among the kids followed by light fireworks in the premises.
Diwali Milan was organised at Hari Niwas Jammu by Citizens Of Jammu. People from alll walks of life, irrespective of their caste, creed, religion, status and political affiliations, participated in this impressive function. Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians enjoyed celebrating Diwali in such a unique function.
The function commenced with traditional and cultural songs in Dogri, Punjabi and Hindi by the well known singers and artists of Jammu region.
Organisers of this event, Ramesh Arora (Adv.) and Ashok Gupta, greeted all the participants and expressed hope that such a function is a reflection of centuries old traditional communal hormony and brotherhod among different sections and faiths of the society. "People of Jammu witnessed such a Diwali Milan after a long time", they said and added that it will inspire the other people too to organise such events on different social and religious occasions. It has given a message that a ray of hope still exist in troubled state provided some one takes sincere initiative and lead the society. It is also a signal to all those who want to create wedge among the peace loving people on communal lines that whn people make up their mind to come together, no force on earth can succeed in its nefarious designs.
