One killed, traffic SI among 2 hurt | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 9: A motorcyclist was killed and two others, including a traffic police Sub-Inspector (SI) and a CRPF cop, were wounded in separate road accidents. Navneet Singh (32) of Kaili Mandi, Samba, who was injured critically after his motorcycle was hit by a speeding car near Samba Monday night, died in the GMC hospital today.After post-mortem, the body was handed over to his family members for last rites. Traffic police SI Romesh Singh signalled a trucker to stop on the Narwal bypass road. Ignoring the signal, he, however, sped away. In the process, he hit the SI, injuring him critically. There were more traffic police personnel on the road that time. While some of them evacuated the SI to the GMC hospital, others chased the truck (JK02S/5437), police sources said. Sources said when he saw cops chasing him, he abandoned the truck at Sidhra and made good his escape. The truck was seized by the cops.The condition of the SI was stated to be stable. The truck, which was loaded with bananas, was on its way to Srinagar. Cop Sucha Singh of 73 Bn of CRPF was injured when the motorcycle, he was driving, hit a roadside electric pole. He too was admitted to the GMC hospital. |
