Alleged case of dowry: Woman files complaint against in-laws | | | ET REPORT JAMMU, Nov 13: In an alleged case of dowry, a woman Friday lodged a report with police against her husband and other members of his family. Police sources said Neelam Kumari last evening lodged a report with Pucca Danga police station, alleging that she was being tortured daily by her husband Mukesh Kumar of Jullaka Mohalla, father-in-law Sudesh Trikha and other members of their family for bringing less dowry. Mukesh is a daily wager with PHE department while Sudesh is a retired government employee. Neelam had some time back moved to her parents' house at Adarsh Colony in Udhampur due to her alleged torture by in-laws.In her complaint, she alleged that Mukesh and his family members had been asking her to go to her parents and bring more dowry. However, when she could not satiate their desires for more dowry, they started torturing her, she alleged. Acting on her complaint, police picked up Mukesh and Sudesh. Sources said both of them were later released as the court had granted them anticipatory bails. Sources said Mukesh's brothers -- Rakesh and Nitish -- had gone underground as their names were also there in Neelam's complaint. A case under section 498 of RPC was registered against all the accused, the sources added. |
