Recruitment with invalid degrees going on | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 18:DESPITE government decision that the degrees of those students who passed out through distance mode from study centres of the universities of other states would not be valid for any job in Jammu and Kashmir, . President of Post Graduate Teacher Association (PGTA) Paramjeet Singh alleged that some state agencies were not following the norms of state government. It was also decided that degrees of distance education departments of state universities and Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) would only be considered valid. Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC), Service Selection Recruitment Board (SSRB), and Jammu University had also issued notifications of their own in this regard. He also said that with the help of politicians, jobs are being provided to the students of open universities, having invalid degrees. He said that the authorities were entertaining these degrees for their own profits. He said that by this the genuine candidates were deprived of being appointed as lecturer or on other posts. It is affecting the future of the students as the degree holders from the open universities are not eligible to teach at such a higher level. Parminder Singh said that his association also presented a representation to Commissioner Secretary Education in this regard, on which she commented that his association was hindering the path of his brothers. Unsatisfied with Commissioner Secretary, Parminder Singh said that his association will now move towards Chief Minister for detailed discussion on the issue. It is pertinent to mention here that the state had distance learning centres of many open universities including Madhya Pradesh University, Vinayaka Mission University, Sikkim Manipal University, and Punjab Technical University (PTU) besides others. PG degree courses of these universities through learning centres were not valid for any of the government jobs in the education field but still PSC is not making any notice to these guidelines. Recruitment of students for various posts having invalid degrees from these universities, going on in many cases. When contacted, Chairman of Public Service Commission (PSC) S.L Bhat stated that we are following the government rules and denied the allegations made by the association .
