EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Dec 21: The demands of Autonomy, Self-rule, Self-Determination and ‘Azadi’ were being made by vested political interests or by those who were working at the behest of forces hostile to the nation. This is what transpired between the NPP leaders and Interlocutors during a meeting at the NPP headquarters today.
The team of Interlocutors including Dalip Padgaonkar, Radha Kumar and M. M Ansari today called upon the NPP leaders in the office of the party and interacted with party leaders Shri Harsh Dev Singh MLA and its working chairman, Balwant Singh Mankotia MLA and state President, Shri Yash Paul Kundal MLA, Anita Thakur ,State General Secretary.
The interlocutors expressed their regrets that yesterday’s scheduled meeting with NPP could not materialize. The interlocutors blamed the administration for the communication gap and for creating confusion resulting in failure of the meeting. The interlocutors said that the administration had fixed the timings for the meeting and conveyed it to the NPP without informing them leading to such mis-understanding. They apologized to the NPP for the same and agreed to continue the process of discussion in the future.
Harsh Dev Singh MLA while briefing the Interlocutors said that the NPP stood for Re-organisation of the state on the basis of culture, language and geography so that harmonious development of all regions of the state could be ensured. He said that the demands of Autonomy, Self-rule, Self-Determination and ‘Azadi’ were being made by vested political interests or by those who were working at the behest of forces hostile to the nation. He said there can’t be any capitulation of those who repudiate India’s sovereignty. He said that equality of opportunities to all regions of the state coupled with good governance and transparent administration could alone remove the misgivings and apprehensions from the minds of people.
NPP leaders sought equitable share in development funds for road connectivity, power sector, health and tourism sector in particular. They sought sanction of tourism promotion package for the development of Mansar, Dalsar and Surinsar lakes in particular on the analogy of Dal lake and Wullar lake which have been provided 1100 crore and Rs. 386 crore respectively.
Harsh Dev Singh emphatically pointed out that Accession is final and irrevocable and there can be no compromise on territory and sovereignty of India. He said vacation PoK is the only unfinished agenda which deserves the attention of the GOI. He referred to resolution of Parliament on the subject and demanded that it should find its due place in the report of the interlocutors.
The interlocutors assured the NPP leaders to have further discussions on the subject next month.
