GOC white knight corps flag’s in Educational tour | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT NAGROTA, Dec 21: An Educational Tour for children of the far flung border areas of Poonch District organised by Army and conducted by a Rashtriya Rifles Battalion under the aegis of Counter Insurgency Force (Romeo) was flagged in today by Lt Gen JP Nehra, General Officer Commanding White Knight Corps. The tour consisting of 23 school children and two teachers from Surankote Tehsil was flagged off by the Sector Commander Rashtriya Rifles on December 10. At Delhi, the tour participants visited Akshardham temple, Pragati Maidan, Jantar Mantar, India Gate, Red Fort, Qutub Minar, Rashrtapati Bhawan. During their visit to Agra, the students visited Taj Mahal. Thereafter, they were taken to Jaipur, where they visited Hawa Mahal, Amber Fort, Jai Gadh Fort, Jal Mahal, Sheesh Mahal & City Palace. The tour after an eventful tour of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur then started off for their next destination, Jammu. In Jammu, they visited Bahu Fort and other places of historical and religious interest. During the Flag-In Ceremony at Flag Staff House in Nagrota, the Corps Commander met with each child of the tour and exhorted them to spread the message of peace and share their experiences of visit with fellow classmates. He also presented the participants of the tour with souvenir for fond memories of the tour alongwith some educational material. This was for the first time that the children had the rare opportunity to meet and interact with both The President of India Pratibha Devi Patil at Rashtrapati Bhawan and The Chief of the Army Staff Gen VK Singh, along with other dignitaries
