Jammu, Dec 21: In first ever major shake up in the J&K Police Department the NC led coalition government today effected transfers and postings of senior officers, some of them of the rank of IPS including IGPs and DIGs. The reshuffle that witnessed transfers andnew postings of as many as 84 officers also incorporates shifting of some SSPs and SPs at the district level.
The government gave nod to the shake up in top level hierarchy of Police Department in the cabinet meeting held this evening under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. In what can be seen as one of the major and significant change is the replacement of IGP Jammu PL Gupta who has now been transferred as posted as Director SKPA Udhampur. Dilbagh Singh, another senior officer who was until now posted as IGP Armed wing, will now be new IG of Jammu zone .
In one more important decision Ram Lubhaya,IPS, (JK:85) Additional DG Police who was awaiting orders of adjustment has been posted as ADGP, Home Guards/Civil Defence and Auxillary Police. DIG Udhampur -Reasi range Gulzar Singh Salathia has been promoted and posted as IG Human Rights Commission while as Jagjit Kumar is now new DIG Udhampur.
S.Gopal Reddy, IPS,also additional DG Police awaiting orders of adjustment is posted as Additional DG Police, Civil Military Liaison and Internal Security in the Home Department.
Effecting transfers at the senior level of officers, the cabinet also gave nod to the posting of Deepak Kumar, IPS presently on training is posted as IGP, Vigilance While as
Abdul Qayoom Manhas, IPS, DIG, Traffic, Kashmir has been transferred and posted as DIG, Trainings, Armed Police Headquarters. While S.D.Singh, IPS DIG, Poonch-Rajouri Range has been transferred and posted as Joint Director, SKPA, Udhampur vice Sham Lal, Rajesh Kumar, IPS Director, SSG, is now DIG, Poonch-Rajouri Range vice S.D.Singh.
Sham Lal Sharma, IPS Joint Director, SKPA Udhampur has been transferred and posted as DIG, Home Gaurds/Civil Defence against an available vacancy.
