Another earthquake jolts Kashmir | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, May 15: People rushed out of their homes in panic after the second earthquake rocked Srinagar this morning. It was an aftershock, head of the Disaster Management in Kashmir, Aamir Ali told UNI this afternoon. He said the tremors were again felt at 1225 hrs this afternoon.
This was the third quake in the valley in past 24 hours.
Mr Ali said a moderate earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale had rocked the valley, including summer capital Srinagar, early this morning.
The tremors were felt at 0237 hrs, forcing people to rush out of their houses in panic.
He said its epicentre was again in Hindukush mountains in Afghanistan and its coordinates were 36.5 degrees north and 70.7 degrees east." He said there was no immediate report of any loss of life or damage to property.
A moderate intensity quake, measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale, had struck Kashmir yesterday at 0310 hrs.
Jammu and Kashmir, located in a highly seismic zone witnessed more than half a dozen earthquakes during the last two months.
About one lakh people, mostly in Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir(PoK) were killed in a massive quake, measuring 7.9 on the Richter scale, that rocked both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) in October 2005
