GMCH administration blamed for doctor-attendant clash | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 15: PG doctors of government medical college hospital (GMCH) have blamed the hospital administration for the yesterday's incident in ward No 15 where an attendant was mercilessly beaten by three doctors after he approached them for the treatment of her daughter. Nazir was repeatedly kicked in the stomach allegedly by the doctors as a result of which he was wounded critically. He had approached the doctors for the treatment of her daughter Salima Bi (18), who had a snake bite. Police have registered an attempt to murder case under section 307 of RPC against Dr Avinash Soodan of R S Pura and two other doctors, who were alleged to have beaten Nazir. Though, talking to reporters here today, Dr Neeraj Sharma condemned the incident and termed it unfortunate, he fixed its onus on the hospital administration, saying the doctors were overburned and had been working under pressure. Only the hospital administration could be held responsible for it as it had failed to provide security to doctors and make arrangement for adequate staff, including medicos and para-medicos, he added. Dr Neeraj said, "Such incidents bring a bad name to doctors."He demanded a probe into the incident but said the guilty should be punished. He also emphasised the need for increasing the number of para-medicos in the hospital for better care of patients.
