SRINAGAR, Mar 10: Two back-to-back Western Disturbances (WD’s) in quick succession are likely to trigger rain and snow over the next five days in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
The Meteorological Centre Srinagar forecasts that generally the weather will remain cloudy today with isolated very light rain and snow over the upper reaches of Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.
The MeT office said there is a possibility of light to moderate rain or snow at widespread places during March 13, while light rain or snow at a few places on March 14.

Two Election Commissioners are likely to be appointed by March 15 to fill the vacancies created by the retirement of Anup Chandra Pandey and the surprise resignation of Arun Goel, sources said on Sunday.
Days before the poll panel is expected to announce the schedule for the Lok Sabha polls, Goel resigned on Friday morning. His resignation was accepted by President Droupadi Murmu on Saturday and the Law Ministry issued a notification to announce it.
This leaves Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar as the sole member of the poll authority.
Pandey had demitted office on February 14 on attaining the age of 65 years.

Srinagar, Mar 10: A Food Civil Services & Consumer Affairs department office was gutted in a fire mishap in the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.
Official sources said that an FCS&CA office building situated at Main town caught fire last night, razing the structure to ashes.

India and the four-nation European bloc EFTA on Sunday signed a free trade agreement under which New Delhi received an investment commitment of USD 100 billion in 15 years from the grouping while allowing several products such as Swiss watches, chocolates and cut and polished diamonds at lower or zero duties.
The European Free Trade Association (EFTA) members are Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland. Kulgam, Mar 10: A man died while six others were injured when a load carrier overturned in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Muhammad Altaf Matoo, son of Muhammad Ramzan Matoo of Ganjipora village. According to an official, the incident occurred in the Qaimoh area when a load carrier veered off the road, resulting in on spot death of Matoo. “Six others travelling in the load carrier suffered injuries,” the official said.

JAMMU, Mar 10: Security forces on Sunday busted a terror hideout in a forest in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district and seized seven rusted improvised explosive devices and a wireless set, officials said.
They said the hideout located inside a cave was uncovered during a joint search operation by police and the Army at Dara Sangla in the Surankote area.
Blankets and some other materials were also found in the hideout, the officials said.
