Opposition unity in disarray as DPAP, Apni Party, PC skip all-party meet | | |

Jammu, Mar 11: Notwithstanding claims of the National Conference leadership to unite all opposition parties of Jammu and Kashmir, three prominent parties skipped today’s all-party meeting convened by National Conference chief Dr. Farooq Abdullah.
No representatives of the newly floated Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) of Ghulam Nabi Azad, Apni Party of Altaf Bukhari, and Peoples’ Conference of Sajad Gani Lone attended the all-party meeting.
Although it was known to everybody that the Apni Party and Peoples’ Conference would skip the all-party, the decision of DPAP to stay away from the meeting is a setback to the opposition unity.
Highly placed sources said that NC leadership was very particular that representatives of DPAP would attend the meeting but their hopes were shattered as Azad’s party decided to skip the meeting.
Although DPAP has supported the Jammu Bandh call given by the Chamber of Commerce and Industries against Property Tax, the party decided not to attend the all-party meeting.

Jammu, Mar 11: In a major goof up, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has come under the scanner of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs for the apprehended breach of security of Kashmiri Pandits, who have been the victims of the targeted killings in the last few years in particular.
Sources said some officials in the administration by “mistake shared crucial information about the fresh security arrangements of Kashmir pandits and subsequently withdrew it.” It was reliably learnt that the MHA has taken a serious note of the issue.

Jammu, Mar 11: A year after the audit committee detected 2274 illegal and fake appointments in the Health and Medical Education Department, the Jammu and Kashmir Government on Saturday appointment a five-member-panel to probe these fraud recruitments.
On February 4, 2022, the Jammu and Kashmir government’s audit committee had detected 2,274 illegal appointments made in the health department in the year 2020.

Jammu, Mar 11: A complete shutdown is being observed in Jammu today against the imposition of property tax in the Union Territory.
According to an order issued by the Jammu and Kashmir administration, taxes on residential and commercial properties will be levied from April.
The bandh called by Chamber of Commerce and Industries Jammu (CCIJ) is supported by several groups.
Several shops and businesses are closed in the region, however, transport services are continuing normally.

Jammu, Mar 11: Police on Saturday destroyed five rusted grenades found during construction of a house in Gharota area here in the city outskirts.
Confirming the incident, Superintendent of Police, Jammu Rural, Rahul Charak said that during the digging of a land for plinth, five rusted grenades were found in village Charangal Mathwar of Gharota.
"The police along with the Bomb Disposal Squad were immediately rushed to the spot after getting the information and the grenades were destroyed on the spot," said the SP.

Bengaluru, Mar 11: The Election Commission on Saturday said it has introduced the facility to Vote-from-Home (VFH) for people above 80 years of age and those with disabilities in the upcoming assembly elections in Karnataka. For the first time the ECI is going to provide the facility to those above 80 years of age. Our teams will go there with a form-12D to exercise their franchise, the Chief Election Commissioner, Rajiv Kumar told reporters here.
