Hope for assembly elections in J&K revives after 4-years | | |

Jammu, June 19: Exactly four years have passed since Governor rule has been imposed in Jammu and Kashmir. It was only June 19, 2018, when the BJP had dumped its coalition partner Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).
After BJP broke its alliance with PDP and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti resigned, President Ram Nath Kovind had imposed the Governor's Rule in the erstwhile state. This was the eighth time the state has been put under the Governor's Rule.
As per the constitution of the erstwhile state of J&K, President’s rule was imposed in J&K on December 19, 2018, under Article 356 of the Indian Constitution after six months of the Governor’s rule. After the passing of four years, the hope of installing a democratically elected government has revived after latest development.
The direction of the Election Commission of India to the Chief Electoral Officer of J&K to review the electoral roll, followed by the statement of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has revived hope of elections in J&K.

Jammu, June 19: Two months have passed after his transfer to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the former chief of Delhi Police’s anti-terror cell Sanjeev Kumar Yadav is likely to get an important assignment very soon. Highly placed sources in the corridors of power said that Yadav’s services and expertise in dealing with terrorism would be utilized in Jammu and Kashmir to check the functioning of various terrorist outfits in the Union Territory.
“Sanjeev Kumar Yadav was specially deputed to J&K due to experience in solving many terror cases”, sources said and added that the Home Ministry is looking for a very important assignment for Yadav.

Srinagar, June 19: Four terrorists were killed in two separate encounters with security forces Sunday in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara and Kulgam districts, police said.
While two terrorists were killed in Kupwara as many were eliminated in Kulgam, they said, adding some more terrorists are hiding and operation was still underway in both the areas.
One of the terrorists killed in the Kupwara encounter was identified as a Pakistani affiliated with the proscribed Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), they said, adding the identity of the second was being ascertained.

Srinagar, June 19: Police and Security forces in a joint operation on Sunday arrested three militants of Al-Badr outfit in sub district of Handwara in Jammu and Kashmir who were tasked by their Pakistani handlers to carry out militant activities in the area, Police said.
A joint party of Police Kralgund, 92Bn of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and 32 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) intercepted three individuals at Wangam in Handwara in north Kashmir crossing on the National Highway.
