Thousands attend Police officer’s funeral; outrage in Kashmir against gruesome killing

Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 13: The whole Kashmir Valley is shell-shocked over the gruesome killing of a newly recruited Sub-Inspector Arshid Ahmad Mir, who attained martyrdom during a cowardly terror attack on Sunday. The participation of thousands of people in the funeral of Arshid is a clear indication that residents of Valley are fed up with bloodshed and destruction. It is the first during the last some years such a huge number of people have attended the funeral of a cop who was killed by the terrorists. Anger was very much visible on the faces of those who attended the funeral as a young police officer, who was recruited just two years back, was killed without any fault. As mark as respect to the martyr, thousands of people had gathered for the last rites of the Arshid Ahmed at his home in Kupwara on Sunday evening. Hundreds of people rushed towards his residence at Kalmoona in Ramhal belt of Handwara, district Kupwara after getting information about his martyrdom. Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Sept 13: The Government on Monday informed that 86 new positive cases of novel Corona virus (COVID-19), 08 from Jammu division and 78 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 326990. Moreover, 124 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals including 21 from Jammu Division and 103 from Kashmir Division. Early Times Report Srinagar, Sept 13: Security forces averted a major tragedy when they recovered six grenades on the national highway in the outskirts of Srinagar Monday. Public Relations Officer (PRO) of CRPF Abhiram said during routine Road Opening exercise, along Srinagar-Baramulla highway, the alert troopers of 73 Batallion recovered 6 Chinese Grenades from a sandbag placed on the divider of the road.
