| LG speaks to DGP, vows justice for martyred policeman | | CM condemns cowardly terror attack | |  Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 22: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Anantnag in which Jammu and Kashmir Police Head Constable Ashiq Hussain Qureshi was martyred while on duty, and assured that those responsible for the attack would be brought to justice.
In a post on X, Manoj Sinha said he had spoken to Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat to review the security situation following the attack.
Expressing grief over the martyrdom of Head Constable Ashiq Hussain Qureshi, the Lieutenant Governor conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and said the entire nation stands in solidarity with them.
Describing the attack as "cowardly" and "heinous", Sinha asserted that the perpetrators would not go unpunished. He said the Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security forces are actively engaged on the ground and are committed to tracking down and bringing those responsible to justice.
The LG’s statement came after terrorists shot at Head Constable Ashiq Hussain Qureshi in Anantnag, where he later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
CM CONDEMNS COWARDLY TERROR ATTACK
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday condemned the terrorist attack in south Kashmir's Anantnag district that claimed the life of Jammu and Kashmir Police Head Constable Ashiq Hussain, describing it as a "cowardly" act of terror.
In a post on X, the Chief Minister expressed profound grief over the death of Head Constable Ashiq Hussain of the 3rd Battalion of the India Reserve Police (IRP), who was martyred while performing his duty.
Paying tributes to the slain police personnel, Omar Abdullah said Head Constable Hussain had made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. He strongly condemned the terror attack and extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
The Chief Minister also prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul, saying, "May Allah grant him the highest place in Jannat."
The Chief Minister's statement came hours after terrorists opened fire on Head Constable Ashiq Hussain in the Anantnag area of south Kashmir. The policeman later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital.
