Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 10: The Pradesh Congress Committee has stepped up its organisational restructuring, with the party set to announce new block presidents by the end of this month. District presidents have already completed the groundwork, holding a series of meetings with senior leaders over the past few days to finalise the names for block-level leadership.
According to party sources, the finalised list of new block presidents has been handed over to Pradesh Congress President Tariq Hameed Karra. Before the names are formally announced, Karra is expected to consult Syed Nasir Hussain, the party’s Rajya Sabha MP and the AICC in-charge for Jammu and Kashmir affairs. Hussain is likely to travel to Srinagar once the ongoing Parliament session concludes, where the two will deliberate on the list before it is officially released.

strict committees — a matter that has also been the subject of recent internal meetings, with formal announcements expected soon. The Pradesh Congress executive, however, remains unformed; sources say its constitution will follow only after the block and district committees are in place.
Party insiders further revealed that Hussain’s upcoming visit will also focus on discussions around the composition of the state executive. Karra has now been at the helm of the state unit for nearly two years, yet the new executive body is still awaited — notable given that, under party convention, the previous executive stands automatically dissolved once a new president takes charge.
Meanwhile, all Congress leaders who had earlier left the party alongside Ghulam Nabi Azad have since returned to the fold and are expected to be accommodated in the new executive. However, party sources were quick to stress that leaders who have remained active and continued working for the organisation through this period will not be overlooked. The revamped executive, they said, will also make room for representation from youth, women and various other sections of society.
