Srinagar, Sept 8: The National Investigation Agency intensified its crackdown on terror networks in Jammu and Kashmir, conducted a nearly hour-long search operation at the residence of Adeel Majid Rather in Qazigund, Anantnag district — a man investigators have branded a “white-collar” terrorist tied to last year’s devastating bomb blast near Delhi’s Red Fort.
The raid forms part of the NIA’s expanding probe into the November 10 explosion that rocked the national capital, killing more than a dozen people and injuring twenty others in an attack that sent shockwaves across the country. Rather was already in custody when the bomb went off — security agencies had arrested him three days earlier, on November 7, from Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, well before the blast shook Delhi.
According to officials, NIA teams spent close to an hour combing through Rather’s home in Qazigund, working to piece together crucial leads that could strengthen the case. The agency has so far remained tight-lipped about what, if anything, was recovered during the search.
Rather’s arrest last year had already exposed a chilling dimension of the case: he stands accused of plastering Srinagar with threatening posters designed to spread fear across the city. His detention subsequently led police to unravel what they described as a “white-collar” terror module — a network that investigators say disturbingly included several doctors allegedly complicit in terror-related activities. That revelation triggered a wider, more intensive investigation that continues to this day. |
