| CJ for upholding dignity of Judiciary | | | Srinagar, February 12 Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court, Justice Mr. Bashir Ahmad Khan has said that judiciary which serves as one of the main pillar in a democratic set up has to perform its duty sincerely and effectively to find out solution of most critical issues in the present times. Stressing for maintaining the dignity and authority of the judiciary, he called upon the subordinate courts to promptly dispose off the cases pending there so that justice is translated into reality. Addressing a reception hosted in his honour on being confirmed as Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court at High Court complex, Srinagar today, Justice Khan said that the timely dispensation of justice to the poor and needy would help in restoring faith and confidence of the people in the judiciary. He called upon the Judges. Lawyers and legal luminaries to be God fearing while disposing off the cases of poor litigants. Terming the conducting of Lok Adalats as need of the hour and historic decision in the State Judiciary, the Chief Justice said that this has helped in providing free legal aid to the deserving persons thereby further restoring confidence of people in the judiciary. Earlier, Mr. Justice Khan inspected the Guard of Honour presented in his honour. Registrar General Jammu and Kashmir High Court Mr. Husnian Masoodi, Registrar Judicial Mr. M. K. Hanjoora, Deputy Registrar Mr. Shujahat Husain besides judges and staff of High court were present at the function. |
