| JU launching six months certificate course for non-Urdu knowing | | | JAMMU FEB-12
University of Jammu has won the distinction of being the second University in the country to have launched a six months Urdu certificate course for non- Urdu knowing people.
Introduction of the course has been widely welcomed and fulfills the long pending demand of the people. This has been made possible with the personal efforts of the Vice Chancellor of the University Prof Amtiab Mattoo.
Earlier, this course was taught in Delhi University, said Dr Sohab Inayat Malik Director Centre for Professional Studies in Urdu.
Malik said since Urdu is an official language in the state and introduction of this certificate course would help the non Urdu- knowing employees working in various Government departments.
He announced that Prof Mattoo would formally inaugurate the course on March 5. The last date for filling up application forms has been fixed till February 28, he said adding that the course would be run under the aegis of Centre for Professional Studies in Urdu Department of Jammu University and the course fee would be Rs.2000.
The services of reputed Urdu scholars like Prof Zahur-ud-Din would be utilized for this course, he added.
