Balbir, Abhinandan, Saurabh lift Quiz trophy

jammu, Oct 5: The team consisting of Balbir Singh, Abhinandan Singh and Saurabh Kohli, bagged the first prize and lifted the Dr. Surinder Sharma Memorial Trophy in the Quiz Competition, organized by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu under the ongoing "Display Your Talent" 2012-13. The team consisting of Kanwal Singh and Kuljeet Singh from the Department of History, University of Jammu and the team comprising Anshul Gupta, Sahil Randhawa, and Ajayshree Singh Sambyal from Govt. MAM College, were adjudged as Second and Third, respectively.
It may be mentioned here that the University lost Dr. Surinder Sharma, a dynamic officer of the University in the prime of his youth. The trophy for the best team in Quiz has been instituted by the University in his loving memory.
Thirty five teams from the various Teaching Departments of the Jammu University and its affiliated Colleges participated in Quiz (Prelims.) and Five Teams qualified for the finals. In Quiz (Prelims.), the questionnaire carrying sixty questions with multiple choice was given
to the participants for attempting within the time limit of thirty minutes. The final Quiz was Oral one having questions from General Knowledge, Science, History, Sports, Culture as well as Audio and Video rounds. Dr. Madhulika from the School of Bio-Technology, acted as the Quiz Master while Vaibhav Sharma, Ajit Verma, acted as the scorers. Anshu Bala compeered the progamme ably. Prof. Jasbir Singh, Chairman, Campus Cultural Committee, was the Chief Guest on this occasion. In his address Prof. Singh complimented the prize winners and eulogized the efforts of Prof. N.K. Tripathi, Dean Students Welfare, for providing suitable platform to the students to exhibit their talent.
Among others, Prof. Neeru Sharma, Co-Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, Nidhi Kaila, Harmeet Kour, Divya Mahajan, Nitian Sharma and Deepak Singh, were present on this occasion.
