| Early Times cartoonist’s works on display | | | Jammu| Feb 13
A five-day exhibition of sketches and paintings by Flt Lt (Retd) Govind Singh Rana, and Irshada Mir was inaugurated by Health and Medical Education minister Manat Ram Sharma and former finance minister Muzzafar Hussain Beig at Kala Kendra, here today.
The exhibition organized by J&K Academy of Art, culture and Languages has on display caricatures drawn by Rana, the Early Times cartoonist and paintings by Mir a budding artist.
While Mir’s paintings on display are on varied subjects, Rana has put drawn sketches of various ministers and politician on display.
Rana, who did his BA from Jammu University from 1974 and diploma in mechanical Engineering during in his tenure in Air Force got Vishisht Sewa Medal from the President for his commendable service.
The most striking thing about some of the cartoons on display is that he has made most of the sketches on-the-spot.
Minister for Agriculture, Abdul Aziz Zargar, Managing Editor, Early Times, Munish Gupta and Dr Rafeeq Masudi, Secretary J&K Cultural Academy were also present on the occasion.
