| GMC Mortuary’s Class IV employees suspends work | | | Jammu / Aug 1, Chaotic and confusing situation prevailed in the Mortuary of Government Medical College Hospital, Jammu for 3-4 hours here today this morning, as its class IV staff suspended the work in protest against the shifting of one of their colleague to some other section. The relatives of the dead who were already troubled had to bear the brunt of the situation. The working in the mortuary remained suspended for 3-4 morning hours. Relatives of the dead had to wait for long hours for the conduct of Post Mortem as, the entire functioning including Post Mortem was put on hold by the mortuary staff. They alleged undue harassment as; they had to wait for a long period of time for the post mortem of their near and dear. Talking to “Early Times” relatives of the two accident victims from Doda alleged that they have been waiting for the post mortem of their beloved since morning but, due to their internal dispute they are being made to suffer without any reason. They said that the post mortem was necessary to be conducted early in the day as; they have to travel a long distance to reach their places at Doda. Similar kinds of allegations were leveled against the mortuary authorities by the relatives of another accident victim from Muthi. They said that they are already under trauma and this delay is adding to our woes. When contacted Hospital authorities they confirmed the allegations but, stated that the whole issue was resolved within the short period of time and, termed the entire episode as an exaggerated version. But, one of the hospital official disclosed that the doctor’s on the duty at mortuary had provoked the class IV employees to suspend the working.
