| Panthachowk and Athwajan stone quiries put for open auction | | | Jammu, February 13
The government has for the first time put the stone quiries of Panthachok and Athwajan for open auction due to which the department expects an earning of Rs.57 lakh during 2007-08.
This was stated by the Director Geology and Mining here today. He said that with this step the department was able to generate revenue of Rs.16 lakh per year and by this exercise the department’s revenue shall increase from Rs.16 lakh to Rs.57 lakh from the next year. He said this step has been taken to curb the leakage and illegal transportation of minor minerals.
